Winston Preparatory School (WPS) is an innovative day school (with campuses in Dix Hills, NY; Norwalk, CT; Whippany, NJ; New York City; San Rafael, CA) for students in the 3rd through 12th grade with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, and executive functioning difficulties.

At WPS, their unique model of education for the individual provides intense skill remediation while encouraging students to build independence, resilience, responsibility, self-awareness, and self-advocacy.  They do this through a process that understands each student, individualizes a program to meet their needs and continually refines this program based on individual progress, while building a powerful sense of community. They call this process the Continuous Feedback System. This system is designed to deeply understand each student’s specific learning profile, including their strengths and potential.

At WPS we view each student as a unique individual learner who has potential and is Able to Learn. It is also important that our work is grounded in research regarding how people learn and the learning differences that cause students to struggle.

We begin our understanding by looking through a neuropsychological lens based on decades of research on learning and cognition. This is just the first step. It is important that we understand both who our students are as learners, as well as who they are as people. WPS students have some notable gifts, and our individual approach allows us to explore and develop these gifts. Everything we do is based on this in-depth Understanding of each individual student. Enroll Your Child in Winston Prep Long Island’s 2024 Summer Program

Winston Preparatory School Long Island is gearing up for its 2024 Summer Program. Using Winston Prep’s proven research-based education model, the Summer Program offers a highly individualized learning environment for students grades 4-12 with learning differences, including dyslexia, executive functioning difficulties (ADHD), and nonverbal learning disorder (NVLD). This comprehensive day program will help your child enhance academic skills and foster independence.

Located in Dix Hills, New York, the month-long program is designed to develop written language, reading (from decoding to comprehension), mathematics, organization and study skills at each student’s appropriate level. In addition to daily 1:1 focus sessions that target your child’s greatest area of need, our model is based on an in-depth understanding of each student, which results in grouping by learning profile and precisely designed programming. For an additional fee, students can participate in fun and educational extracurricular activities.
